Vibration free running of all rotating systems and machinery is an increasingly essential requirement of industry. A principle cause of vibrations is rotor unbalance, which is due to uneven mass distribution in the rotor with respect to its geometric axis of rotation. Centrifugal forces produced by unbalance in rotors cause stresses and vibration leading to catastrophic failures. Dynamic balancing reduces these forces so as to bring them within permissible levels, thereby ensuring smooth running of the rotors.
